The AC Milan squad returned to training on Monday to begin preparing for their trip out to Saudi Arabia for the Supercoppa Italiana.
After yesterday’s draw against Sassuolo at San Siro, MilanNews confirm that Massimiliano Allegri had the team back in training today at Milanello ahead of the Super Cup semi-final against Napoli, scheduled for Thursday in Riyadh.

There is good news regarding Youssouf Fofana, who did a full session with the rest of his team-mates. He should therefore be available for the game against the Italian champions – a welcome boost for the midfield given how much Allegri has been using him as the right mezzala in the 3-5-2 system.
However, there are no further positive developments. Rafael Leao and Santiago Gimenez continued their individual work. Matteo Gabbia, meanwhile, underwent therapy after the knee injury sustained against the Neroverdi which looks like keeping him out of the Napoli game.
As a reminder, Milan are heading to defend their Supercoppa Italiana crown having beaten their biggest rivals Juventus and Inter back in January to lift the 2024-25 edition. They will do so with a depleted attack though it appears, unless Leao and Gimenez make a recovery in the next couple of days.
Hopefully seeing how much more porous our midfield has been the last two games will silence some of the people that were on his back earlier. I’ll be very happy to see him back in the lineup.
one of the problems with Fofana is that when he’s overplayed (which is often the case with Allegri) his form dips and his decision making becomes awful…
he’ll be great for a while again then back to his old self.
For the supercoppa, either start with Rabiot-Jashari-Fofana or with Rabiot-Jashari-LoftusCheek and bring Fofana/Ricci later on
Modrić should be rested partially or entierly until the Hellas Verona game.
Does Max throw this game? Does he even care? Milan barely has the depth for Serie A.
The focus should be in serie A. If we miss Europe he would be dismissed and actually if we don’t win serie A I’m sure many would be screaming for his head considering the “aesthetics” of his football.
So logically supercoppa, given our lack of depth, isn’t a priority.
However, given the bitterness of the Lazio game, I think “throwing away” yet another trophy won’t be in any service to Allegri and will cast doubts over the group.
So yeah, the whole thing is a bit tricky to be honest.
