Gabbia touches on ‘difficult moments’ after injury as he thanks Milan teammates

By Isak Möller -

After many months of struggle, Stefano Pioli is once again able to rely on a full squad with almost injuries (only Brahim Diaz currently). And it comes at a very good time, with an intense period ahead in all competitions.

Milan will take on Spezia in less than 15 minutes and the starting XI that Pioli has named (see here), it very strong indeed. And as mentioned, he will now have some good options on the bench as well, which is always a good thing.

Matteo Gabbia is one of the players that recently have returned to training with the squad. The young defender started the season very well but sustained an injury in early December, forcing him to miss out on 12 games.

He’s back now, though, and will surely be hungry to reclaim his spot in the starting eleven. It won’t be an easy task but as Gabbia himself highlighted in an interview with MilanTV (via MilanNews), there are many games in this period.

“There were some difficult moments. I regretted being out because I couldn’t help the team. I had found a certain continuity. I have to thank all my teammates because they have always been close to me. It’s a period full of games, the team is training well and therefore we will push hard to find optimal results.”
