AC Milan CEO Ivan Gazidis has praised the ‘exciting’ new stadium project which was revealed on Thursday.
A number of key figures from both the Rossoneri and city neighbours Inter were present to help launch the ‘nuovo San Siro’ plans, including Milan president Paolo Scaroni and Inter CEO Alessandro Antonello.
The presentation began with Scaroni and Antonello outlining the key brief information, before Italian firm Manica showed their ‘wedding ring’ design, followed by American giants Populous and their ‘cathedral’.
More information was offered by both on why the decision was made to move on from the current San Siro, and now Gazidis has pledged his support to the new project too.
“Those presented are two projects already under development,” Gazidis said, via MilanNews.it.
“The urban planning master plans will take into consideration different concepts to enhance the neighbourhood and respect our history.
“Naming rights? It is too early to talk about this topic. We believe we have an exciting project, which will be a new light for Milan and for Italian football.
“If we look around the world, the best clubs have solid foundations. We must create a future where generations of fans can find new enthusiasm.
“We must give something of value to the new generations. I take this responsibility very seriously. We must not invent anything, we must play in a modern stadium that represents the new generation of Milan and Inter supporters who will have to return to the top of football.
“It is an indispensable step. I believe the world will look at this stage as a guiding light.”
