New head coach Stefano Pioli will put Lucas Biglia at the centre of his project at AC Milan, according to a report.
The Rossoneri confirmed on Tuesday that Marco Giampaolo had been sacked as head coach after just 111 days in charge – the shortest reign of any manager in the club’s history.
The club confirmed the appointment of Pioli via a statement on their official website, despite protests from fans on social media.
We had a go at predicting the starting XI that Pioli will turn to and it spelled out good news for Biglia, with the pair having worked together at Lazio.
La Gazzetta dello Sport – as cited by Calciomercato.com – claims that the Argentine will be the director of the midfield under the new head coach.
They recall how Milan were trying to offload Biglia as part of a deal for Jordan Veretout, who was at Fiorentina at the time, and now he has one of the most important roles in the team.
Ismael Bennacer meanwhile will be allowed time to adapt to Pioli’s system, but for now it is the 33-year-old who will be leaned upon.
