GdS: Calhanoglu to act as key for Milan’s balance – his role for Juve clash

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan are gearing up to take on Juventus on Friday evening, hoping to secure a spot in the Coppa Italia final. The first leg between the sides ended 1-1, meaning it will be a tough task for the Rossoneri at Allianz Stadium.

The Rossoneri will look to add more unpredictability to their attack while also tackling their opponents in the defensive phase. Therefore, Stefano Pioli is ready to field Giacomo Bonaventura, Hakan Calhanoglu and Lucas Paqueta from start.

According to today’s edition of Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews.it), the Turkish international will be the key for Milan’s balance. He will play as the trequartista in the 4-2-3-1 formation, thus being closest to Ante Rebic up front.

Out of the midfielders, he will be the only one to remain high up the pitch in both phases of the game, while the others will centralise for the defensive phase. In other words, the No.10 will be of great importance.

Calhanoglu will have to try and take advantage of the space that Rebic will create, while also acting as a link between midfield and attack.
