GdS: Four solutions Pioli must implement to revive Milan after sharp decline

By Isak Möller -

Milan have struggled as of late and this has been reflected in their performances, with two consecutive losses in Serie A and two draws in Europa League. To stay at the top of the standings, something needs to change.

In today’s edition of Gazzetta Dello Sport, as cited by MilanNews, four solutions are outlined for the Rossoneri and Stefano Pioli. The first is to revive some of the key players, who are Hakan Calhanoglu and Ismael Bennacer.

In 2021, Bennacer has played just 92 minutes and this has affected Milan big time, while Calhanoglu has seemingly struggled since he recovered from COVID. And without them doing well, things have been even tougher for the Rossoneri.

For months, Pioli’s side played with seemingly no pressure and just continued to collect points after points. But now the players have fainted and solutions are needed, one of which could be to change from the 4-2-3-1 formation.

In addition, the manager has to instil that ‘lightness’ the team experienced in the first half of the season, where they just kept plugging on no matter what. Finally, team spirit is once again needed, as the morale has vastly changed in the last few weeks.
