GdS: Milan mayor under pressure by Milan and Inter ahead of crucial meeting

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan and Inter have been working on their stadium project for several years, but could now go separate ways and also move from San Siro. The latter has put Milan mayor Beppe Sala under tremendous pressure.

Due to the constant delays and roadblocks, Milan are now inclined to build a stadium on their own elsewhere. It’s a decision that has angered Inter (read more) who were hoping to build with the Rossoneri, but also has put pressure on the city council.

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews), one of the major concerns is the constraint that could be put on San Siro. It’s an idea that was launched by the Undersecretary for Culture Vittorio Sbargi, but it was initially blocked by the superintendence in 2019.

The problem now, however, is that the superintendent has changed since then and Beppe Sala will have a meeting with the new one, Emanuela Carpani, soon. If she turns out to be in favour of the constraint, the stadium project at San Siro would virtually be dead.
