GdS: Napoli hold young midfielder in high regard – why it matters to Milan

By Isak Möller -

Marco Brescianini is being linked with a move to Napoli and AC Milan are keeping a close eye on the situation. Not because they intend to rival the Partenopei for the midfielder, but because they have a resale clause in their favour.

Braescianini came through the youth ranks at Milan and made his first-team debut in August 2020, coming off the bench against Cagliari. However, his career never took off with the Rossoneri and he thus joined Frosinone permanently last summer.

The midfield impressed in his first season with his new club and according to Gazzetta dello Sport (see photo below), Napoli want his services. The sporting director Giovanni Manna would like to bolster the midfield with one of Brescianini and Billy Gilmour (Brighton), or perhaps even with both.

The likes of Atalanta and Fiorentina have also expressed an interest in the former Milan man. As such, Napoli could make their move relatively soon. The Rossoneri are watching on with great interest as they have a 50% resale clause, which was added in the deal when the 24-year-old was sold to Frosinone.

It has previously been reported that Frosinone want around €12m for the midfielder, meaning Milan would be entitled to €6m.

  1. Brescianini was always highly regarded but then he got the full treatment.

Let me see he’s 24 now and has had, yep, three loans.

Since he made his debut 4 seasons ago Milan have signed the following midfielders:

    1 Tonali (he’s gone)
2 Meïté (I forgot about him)
    3 Adli
    4 Bakayoko
    5 Vranckx
    6 Reijnders
    7 Musah
    8 RLC

And now he might end up playing for our rivals.

    Well done everyone.

    1. Was never good enough for Milan, like the Top5 names on your list… which is why neither one of those names is at the club anymore.

      1. Oh wait, I generally agree with you, but are you actually saying that Tonali was never good enough for Milan??? Are you out of your mind???

          1. So weren’t all of those signings (and I’d include Musah and very possibly Reijnders unless he significantly improves for Milan this season) a total waste of time, money, effort, thought, support, everything?

And the same could be said about over 50% of our signings in the past 10 seasons or so. And in that time none of our youth players have broken through or stayed at the club (apart from Calabria who is now going)?

What have we got to show for any of this?

And why don’t you question any of it?

      2. Not a single youth player was ‘good enough’.

Including the former ones now playing for our direct rivals.

Why don’t you ever question a system that produces this much failure?

  2. Blind man driving F1 car in Monte Carlo race ….
Failure to trust his own academy product, no direction and vision in running youth academy system.
Internal Development defeated by Money matters only.

  3. I really like milan to be out of ucl group stage and finish the league outside top 10. This club should learn a lesson in believing in foreigners than local talents. Milan never showed any interest to sign calafiori or buongiorno since they r italians. This club has become a center of anti italian bias.
