GdS: Pioli must settle one XI battle for Milan’s clash against Fiorentina

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan will face Fiorentina tomorrow afternoon in front of a sold-out San Siro, with a fantastic atmosphere expected. It’s a huge game for the Rossoneri as they need to assert themselves at the top, following the win at Lazio.

Stefano Pioli and his men are currently two points ahead of city rivals Inter, who lost against Bologna mid-week. The Nerazzurri thus no longer have a game in hand and this means that Milan are in charge of the race once again.

As per Gazzetta Dello Sport (read full XI report here), Pioli has one battle to settle ahead of tomorrow’s clash and it’s the expected one: Franck Kessie vs. Brahim Diaz. The latter has struggled this season and that’s why the Ivorian currently is ahead.

The newspaper puts the battle at 60-40 in favour of Kessie, who has been an important player with his physique lately. Obviously, he’s not as technical as Diaz but he has shown that he can be of great value to Milan anyway.

  1. I dont understand what you mean by Technical. How is Diaz a technical player. He doesnt pass, he doesnt score, he is very weak, and he is not fast. I believe even Kronic is better than Diaz.
For Kessie, this is not his prefered position. I would say put Rebic there, he can do better than both.

    1. totally agree, Rebic has played there before at Eintracht, strong, tall, plays extremely well with back to goal, and can distribute, him or even Ibra is a better choice…. it is like Pioli does not want to jam the ball down the opponents throat

  2. Kessie and tonali in pivot and bennacer in CAM…problem solved…or put messias as the CAM and move rebic out right, 🤷‍♂️
