AC Milan have started the season well with four wins in five games, sitting in second place in the standings. However, there is still room for improvement as the reserves need to step up in attack, among other things.
Rafael Leao was the hero for Milan yesterday afternoon as he scored the only goal of the game against Hellas Verona. Unsurprisingly, he was assisted by Olivier Giroud, who just like the Portuguese winger has started the season very well.
As highlighted by today’s edition of Gazzetta Dello Sport (see photo below), the gap between the attacking duo and their reserves has not been closed yet. Giroud and Leao, in fact, have scored seven of the ten goals scored by the Rossoneri so far.
It’s clear that they won’t be able to play every game, especially not Giroud, and Pioli will have to rely more on Noah Okafor and Luka Jovic for the upcoming games. They are yet to find the back of the net and compared to 934 minutes between Giroud and Leao, they only have 115 on the pitch.
The gap between the starters and the reserves, therefore, must be closed. Pioli’s ability to rotate in this hectic period hinges on it.
Pioli needs to start the bloody reserves. It’s the only way the squad will be covered and the new signings will gain confidence.
It is not the reserve that needs to step up, it is Pioli who needs to rotate
A bit miss-leading. Giroud scored 1 goal from open play, if Pulisic shot the penalties would he suddenly be good because he scored those goals? Or Jovic?
Giroud has 2 or 3 assists as well. Without him Rafa wouldn’t even have had his breakaway where he scored yesterday.
And Pulisic has 2 goals. How is he not included? They literally used the 2 guys that didn’t score to create a story. Incredible. And the question is still there, would Jovic be great if he scored 3 penalties?
Pioli is playing waiting game for new arrivals to adopt on new league and team. But you can’t wait. Okafor should start at least 3 games for now and Leao should be benched last game.
Rotate pioli
u dont need to rotate 7 players
just 2-3 rotation players each games.
if the team in trouble, just sub the main players in. Especially Leao. Cant imagine if he is subbed in at 70 minutes. His speed will beat anyone with ease
Our backups are strong this season. Before this i agree playing main 11 each game
Why don’t GdS put Pulisic in the list? He is a winger like Leao.
Exactly. That is what I am saying, they cherry-picked players that didn’t score to create a story. And completely ignored Pulisic that has 2 goals.
Just lay off Olivier Giroud,,,he is having a fine season 4 goals ,,.and 3 assists ,,.now that is what I call fine form indeed ,,,yes of course both Olivier and Rafeo must be managed right …AS we have some big games coming up ..we need 2 wins from these two games ..inter did not play very well today and managed to win 1 -0
Not impressed with Thuram …give me Olivier Giroud any time ..He is still class and I have said this for a while , I expect around 20 goals from him this season , and of course the same goes for Rafeo leao ,,perhaps even more …But Giroud is much more impressive than some of you ,,,don’t understand…He is a very clever gifted striker,,,who has great physical strength and great awareness of where to be at the right time .
We can win the scuddeto this season ..so many doubters among you so called fans ,,get being the team and trust in poili …He is doing well .
