Mike Maignan suffered a minor muscle injury in the game against Newcastle and will thus miss tomorrow’s clash against Hellas Verona. However, the Frenchman should be back in action very soon.
The Milan fans were worried as the goalkeeper sat down on the pitch, out of nowhere as well, and Marco Sportiello had to finish the game between the sticks. Fortunately, the tests he took on Wednesday ruled out an injury.
Therefore, Maignan will just have to dispose of the muscle discomfort before setting foot on the pitch again. According to Gazzetta Dello Sport (see photo below), he could be back already against Cagliari but the most likely return seems to be Lazio at the weekend.
Good news for Stefano Pioli, even though he has a very capable deputy in Sportiello. The former Atalanta man made a good save in the dying minutes against Newcastle and will be looking to build on that against Verona.
