GdS: Work required before €28m signing is a starter for Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

Forward Rafael Leao will need a lot of work before being considered as a starter by Milan head coach Marco Giampaolo, a report claims.

The Portugal U21 international joined the Rossoneri earlier in the month, becoming the club’s third signing of the summer in a €28m deal.

Leao revealed his delight to have sealed a move to the San Siro upon his arrival, while reports have claimed that Milan’s coaching staff were left surprised by his first few training sessions.

The former Lille man also had an impressive debut in Kosovo against Feronikeli, however reports emerged on Monday stating that the Milan leadership are still in the market for another quality forward.

On Tuesday, La Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting that it will take time to see Rafael Leao as a protagonist in the new Milan.

They state: “Rafael Leao is the positive note in training, yet Giampaolo has stopped the enthusiasm: good but instinctive, he said of him.

“The coach thinks that for Leao there will be a lot of work to do before being a starter.”
