GdS: Probable XIs for Inter vs. Milan – no surprises for either side

By Isak Möller -

The long-awaited clash between AC Milan and Inter will take place this evening and the outcome will decide a lot in the Scudetto race. Therefore, it’s not just any Derby Della Madonnina, but a very important one as well.

The derby is always special, there is no doubt about it, but it’s also clear that tension is even higher when the standings are like this. A win for Milan would mean cutting the gap to just one point, while a loss would mean -7, which would be a nightmare.

Taking a look at the probable XIs published in Gazzetta Dello Sport this morning (see photo below), it’s what you would expect from both sides. Perhaps there is one anomaly, though, as Stefano Pioli is expected to start Franck Kessie as a trequartista.

Simone Inzaghi looks set to start Denzel Dumfries instead of Matteo Darmian, which isn’t exactly shocking but it’s also clear that the Italian is more experienced. You can take a look at the probable XIs below.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Kalulu, Romagnoli, Theo; Tonali, Bennacer; Saelemaekers, Kessie, Leao; Giroud.

Probable Inter XI (3-5-2): Handanovic; Skriniar, De Vrij, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Brozovic, Calhanoglu, Perisic; Martinez, Dzeko.
