Giroud says Ibrahimovic’s collision ‘seemed like a penalty’ and bemoans: “Some games are like this”

Olivier Giroud came into last night’s clash between AC Milan and Bologna with a lot of confidence, after scoring two goals for France. However, he failed to find the back of the net and was eventually subbed off.

The 35-year-old has scored some important goals for Milan this season but he failed to deliver yesterday. In fairness, he didn’t get that many chances and perhaps the major complaints should be made about the wingers.

Speaking to MilanTV after the game, as cited by MilanNews, Giroud shared his thoughts on the Rossoneri’s performance. He also stated that he thought it looked like a penalty when Zlatan Ibrahimovic collided with Gary Medel.

33 shots but no goals, how do you explain that?

“I think the team did well but we weren’t precise. We did our best, but we lacked clarity in the final third and a bit of quality too. We dominated the game. Some games are like tonight, but now we have to think about the next one.”

On the penalty situations…

“Theate’s hug on me? I didn’t see him, he was behind me. I don’t know if it’s a penalty, but that’s it. Tonight we had neither luck nor precision. The contact on Ibra seemed like a penalty but I don’t want to blame the referee, we are frustrated tonight,” he stated.

Penalty or not, the fact that Milan should have done a lot better in attack remains. They still have a one-point advantage at the top but things have become more difficult in the Scudetto race, that’s for sure.
