Giroud and Origi to battle it out for starting spot in Milan vs. Bologna

Stefano Pioli is expected to make a couple of changes to the starting XI for AC Milan’s game against BVologna. One of them will be in the attack, with a battle emerging between Olivier Giroud and Divock Origi.

Ante Rebic has played the last two games from start in the centre-forward but his outing against Atalanta was less successful. Therefore, Pioli is expected to bench the Croatian and make way for one of the out-and-out strikers.

Olivier Giroud has been the favourite in the media this week but there is a battle to consider. Divock Origi has impressed in training and also during the short spells we have seen him on the pitch in the first two games.

“Tomorrow one of them will be the starter up front. From tomorrow we will play 7 games in 21 days. This year there are no starters, I train a team of starters. We need all the players,” he stated.

The Belgian could start up front, therefore, and this was confirmed by Pioli during his presser today. He stated that he will field one of the two from start tomorrow, a decision that likely will be made in the morning.
