AC Milan have conceded 18 goals so far this season and that is too much for a team that wants to compete for the Scudetto. Against Atalanta yesterday, they conceded three and it ended up costing them at least a point.
Olivier Giroud and Luka Jovic didn’t get any help from the Milan defenders last night, bringing the Rossoneri level twice and still Atalanta won the game. In short, the defence has become a real problem and it’s not a surprise given the many injuries.
During a broadcast on Sky Italia this evening, as you can see in the photo below, Milan’s defensive issues were highlighted. In the final 30 minutes of the Serie A games, the Rossoneri have conceded 11 goals and that is more than half of all goals conceded (18 in total).
#ACMilan have conceded more than half of the goals (11/18) between the minutes 60-90 in Serie A this season.

Billy Custacurta also chimed in on the matter, above all highlighting that Theo Hernandez’s understandable flaws at centre-back were evident last night. With four centre-backs on the sidelines, it was never going to be easy but a solution still needs to be found.
Milan will face Newcastle on Wednesday evening and Hernandez will likely start as the centre-back again. A new approach will be needed for the entire backline, at least compared to what we saw yesterday.
The stamina is already depleted after high pressing from the start of the match.
