Ibrahimovic talks ahead of ‘difficult’ Napoli clash and praises Bonera: “He did a great job”

By Isak Möller -

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Milan’s top goalscorer thus far with eight goals in the league, will play from start against Napoli this evening. The game will kick off in just a few minutes and he will be looking to get on target.

The Rossoneri were held to a draw last time out, scoring the 2-2 equaliser late against Hellas Verona. They had many chances and should have won the game, so hopefully they will be hungry for revenge this evening.

In an interview with MilanTV just a few minutes ago, as cited by MilanNews.it, Ibrahimovic spoke about the work during the international break and tonight’s clash. He praised Daniele Bonera, who temporarily is the head coach as Stefano Pioli has COVID.

How did you work?

“First of all there were a lot of players missing, then the coach. We continued as usual, everyone worked well. We followed the program and have always been in contact with the coach for feedback at the end of each training session. Bonera did a great job, it was a new situation for him. He knows all the players and everyone knows him.”

How is the coach?

“We talk to him every day with Zoom, drones and cameras. He watches all the workouts and gives his feedback. It is there even if it is not there.”

What will it take tonight?

“There is respect for Napoli. We are fine and we must continue our adventure. We must not lose confidence, today is very different because there is no coach. Everyone knows what to do and take responsibility. It will be a difficult match.”

The game will start at 20:45 and since Sassuolo won their game earlier today, Milan need three points to retain their spot at the top of the standings. It’s not an easy task, but a win could really boost the confidence.
