Journalist explains why Milan’s recent success started with three key exits

By Isak Möller -

In the post-lockdown period, which dates back to June of 2020, AC Milan have been extremely successful on the pitch. They are currently in 6th place with an impressive 28 points after just 10 games.

Only Napoli have done better than the Rossoneri this season (ahead on goal difference) and it’s shaping up to be a pretty good Scudetto battle. Two years ago, Milan hit rock bottom with Marco Giampaolo and this would’ve been hard to imagine.

Speaking live on Sky Italia, as cited by PianetaMilan, pundit Marco Bucciantini spoke about Milan’s turnaround. He named three exits as the key behind what has been a fantastic period under Stefano Pioli.

“This Milan is winning games in various ways, sometimes dominating them, others suffering. If you win 9 games out of 10, you can’t dominate them all. I like Milan because they are unpredictable, they have had a crazy growth since December 2019. This Milan is the result of some sacrifices, such as those of Suso, Paqueta and Rangnick,” he stated.

Of course, Rangnick was never a part of the club officially but the decision the management made (not to focus on him) was still absolutely crucial. One can only wonder where Milan would’ve been today with the German in charge.

  1. So basicaly manage to fix the right side. Suso did 0 defending at Milan. I remember poor Calabria or Conti allways 1 vs 2.
Paqueta still think was better then Saelemaekers but the 40 mil investment for him vs 5 for Saelemaekers = no patience with him.
