The four key battles that could win or lose the game for Milan against Salernitana

By Isak Möller -

In less than four hours, AC Milan will take on Salernitana in the 26th round of Serie A, hoping to make it three consecutive league wins. Indeed, the Rossoneri need to keep putting pressure on Inter.

The Rossoneri are currently just one point ahead of the Nerazzurri (who have a game in hand) and with a win tonight, they would temporarily make it four points ahead of Inter-Sassuolo tomorrow.

For Milan’s game against Salernitana, there are some interesting battles to take a look at in terms of where the clash could be decided. Starting with the obvious choice, Rafael Leao against Pasquale Mazzocchi could very well be decisive as the winger is in red-hot form, looking to continue that.

As for Salernitana’s attack, they have some players Milan need to be careful with and one of them is Franck Ribery, should he start. Ismael Bennacer could be a key for the Rossoneri in shutting down the Frenchman, devoting more time to the defensive phase this evening.

Then there is Milan Djuric, who will be a handful for captain Alessio Romagnoli as he’s almost two metres tall (199cm). Responsibility will also lie on the Rossoneri’s full-backs to stop crosses from reaching the tall striker.

Finally, Milan have a tall striker of their own in Olivier Giroud, who will be battling it out with another veteran this evening. The player in question is Federico Fazio, the former Roma man who will turn 35 next month. There should be some good duels between them.
