CM: Spurs-linked midfielder has ‘stronger interest’ from Milan over summer move

By Isak Möller -

Franck Kessie has decided to leave AC Milan in the summer as his contract will expire and the Rossoneri are now looking for a new midfielder. One of the names that have been mentioned lately is Jordan Veretout.

The Roma midfielder has fallen out of favour under the reigns of Jose Mourinho, also after the arrival of Sergio Oliviera, and is expected to leave in the summer. Therefore, he has been mentioned as an option for Milan.

According to Calciomercato.com, Veretout asked for a salary increase to €3.5m per year in the summer but there has been no progress on a renewal since. His contract will expire in 2024 and he could leave for a reasonable amount.

Tottenham expressed their interest in January, as the report continues, but ‘stronger interest’ has emerged from Milan and Marseille in the last few weeks. It remains to be seen if Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara will make an attempt to sign him.

  1. Why do we need a “Kessie Replacement”…? If we only run 2 mids and have tonali, bennacer, bakayoko, adli, pobega, krunic… explain please.. unless we go to a 3 man mid it’s not needed.

    1. AC Milan Will cut bakayoko Loan from Chelsea. So double pivot only tonali,Bennacer, pobega . Adili are AmF competitor for Brahim. Krunic not pure DMF and only last choice . We are lacking box to box midfielder , and Maldini targetting Renato already for box to box DMF in summer

      1. I don’t think we need to cut Bakayoko if he gets a little better and we can save a bunch of money on a non-needed position and put those funds where it matters.
