Kjaer shares thoughts on Europa League group and says Milan ‘want to win the competition’

By Isak Möller -

Simon Kjaer, who arrived in January, has been a very important player for Milan since. As Alessio Romagnoli has been out for a long time, the Dane has stepped up and made use of his experience.

Especially in the absence of the captain, Kjaer has shown just how good he is and why Milan were right to redeem him this summer. They only had to pay €3.5m as well which, looking back at it, as an absolute bargain.

Interviewed by Sky Sport (via Milanlive.it), Kjaer talked about the team’s goals after qualifying for the Europa League groups. The Rossoneri have Celtic, Sparta Prague and Lille in their group, which perhaps isn’t the easiest one.

“We are Milan, we want to win the competition. The groups? Better to play against strong teams. When you are young you want a team of young people, but when you are old you understand that only young people are not enough. I came here to be a leader,” he stated.

Tomorrow evening, Milan will take on Spezia at the San Siro and Kjaer will start in the defence as usual. Hopefully, the Rossoneri will bring in a centre-back before the window closes so Kjaer and Gabbia can get some rest.
