The latest on Calabria, Kjaer and Saelemaekers as injury situation gets worse for Milan

By Isak Möller -

Three AC Milan players were forced to leave the game against Empoli due to injuries, which was the last thing Stefano Pioli needed. Updates have now arrived on the players in question.

Davide Calabria was the second one to leave the pitch as he suffered a hamstring injury. It looked like a rather serious one, similar to that of Alessandro Florenzi, and that means he could be out for quite a few weeks.

Alexis Saelemaekers left a few minutes earlier after seemingly receiving a knock to his knee. Milan confirmed to the media this evening that it’s a sprain to his left knee, and it remains to be seen what the recovery time is.

Finally, Kjaer fought hard this evening and eventually couldn’t continue due to his condition. Just like Calabria, he had a problem with the right hamstring but it didn’t look as serious, seeing as he didn’t leave on a stretcher.

  1. Pioli fault that Calabria injured. It’s empoli, EMPOLI for gods sake. You shouldn’t have to put out your strongest 11 out, and he KNEW Calabria had been hurt with Italy. Dest should have started.

    1. That Empoli actually almost cost us 2 points. They were quite a threat after Calabria got injured. Rather than blaming Pioli, I rather questioned the condition of the pitch in Italy as seen several of Empoli left injured too.

    2. Davide picks his injury from Napoli game that was why the coach change him at half time by bringing dest that cause us the game against Napoli
