The latest injury updates ahead of Inter-Milan – from Ibrahimovic to Tomori

By Isak Möller -

In one week’s time, more specifically on Sunday next weekend, AC Milan will face Inter in the exciting Derby Della Madonnina. Both teams are fighting for the Scudetto and that should make it a very interesting clash.

Of course, a derby is always special but it’s safe to say that it has an extra spice now that both teams are back at the top. For Milan, it will be a very important game as they were knocked down to third place last weekend (now level on points with Napoli).

Stefano Pioli will be able to rely on a strong XI, at least as things stand, and some injury concerns have been overcome in the last few days. Franck Kessie was feared to have a rib injury but the scan revealed no damage except a trauma, as per Tuttosport earlier today.

This means that he should be available and the same goes for Zlatan Ibrahimovic. He trained individually yesterday and today but since it’s just an Achilles inflammation, he should be back as per the same newspaper.

It was also confirmed a few days ago that Fode Ballo-Toure will be out for around three weeks due to an adductor injury. He wasn’t expected to play from start anyway but Theo Hernandez is one yellow away from a suspension, so it could become an issue.

Finally, Fikayo Tomori is working hard to recover from his minor knee surgery and he was in the gym with Ibrahimovic yesterday and today. He could perhaps make it back but there is little hope for that, although it’s there.
