Despite being heavily in doubt before the game, Rafael Leao came off the bench and was crucial for AC Milan in their comeback win against Inter. Afterwards, he spoke to the media and praised Sergio Conceicao.
Just a couple of days ago, it seemed certain Leao would only be able to play a small part tonight, 20-30 minutes or so. However, he came on very early in the second half and made the difference immediately.
He won the free-kick that Theo Hernandez converted, got a hockey assist for the second goal and assisted the third. After the game, as you would expect, Leao was very happy with his performance as he spoke to MilanTV (via MilanNews).
On the win…
“It’s the victory of a team that has always believed in itself. Inter are difficult opponents, but Conceicao gave us the right energy which we need to have even if we don’t play well. And then congratulations to the whole team, those who have been here for the longest time remember well that the last time we were here we lost. This time we wanted to take home the trophy.”
On his impact…
“I always believed I could help. I was disappointed not to have been able to play against Juve, but I wasn’t ready. I worked hard to be ready for this match. Winning is a great emotion. Those who have been here for the longest time know that winning the Scudetto was something incredible. Now even the youngest know what it means to win something.”
It remains to be seen if Leao will play from start against Cagliari on Saturday. A turnaround is needed in the league but at the same time, there is no need to rush him back for that game.
So glad we didn’t got Sari😂
Listen to Conceicao and you could be doing a lot of winning son….
Leao showing just how good he can be, those who call for his sale….imagine how good he can be with a good coach
Well done lad 🟥⬛️🟥RAfA🟥⬛️🟥
Imagine leao performing with this consistency/ hunger and also backing them with trophies, bro would have had a shot in the ballon d’or or at least in the top ten…who the hell is vini jr
Forza Milan ♥️🖤🦅🥳
Whoa. While I love Rafael Leão, Vini Jr is a phenomenal player. I’ve seen him play over and over as I also follow Real Madrid (I’m not saying I support Real; I support AC Milan, period, for a lifetime, but I enjoy enough the sport to watch other great teams in other leagues too, when I can).
Vini is spectacular. He was robbed of the Ballon d’Or in favor of Rodri which was incredibly unfair, but then he has just won two other trophies as the best in the world right now, including the FIFA one.
We can perfectly praise Rafa without bashing Vini.
My dream is that Rafa will start performing like Vini, but in dreaming of this, I wouldn’t say “who the hell is Vini Jr”. I hope you were just being sarcastic and you didn’t really mean that Vini is bad.
One concern, though, is that if Rafa starts being as good as Vini, some rich team will poach him from us.
So, it’s a balancing act… good enough to win us trophies (like he did today) but not SO good that Real, ManCity, Bayern, etc., will come knocking with an offer that we can’t refuse, and we will lose him. So I’d rather prefer to see Rafa being a bit less good than Vini, so that we can still afford to have Rafa.
Rodri is the best player in the world, it’s been proven by his absence and City’s decline. Vini dives too much, his antics in the match vs Milan were embarrassing…he has ability yes class no..More Madrid entitlement
Selfishness in the highest order
Well you are absolutely spot on, just enjoying the win (that feeling). My bad for making it look like vini is a bad player, yeah he is ahead of Rafa leao currently but like you said you follow up real Madrid match meaning you watch vini jr play most often….. But imagine if Rafa takes that vini Jr consistency and hunger into his own arsenal,Man would have been world class.
After all both are undoubtedly talented.
Once again I don’t mean vini jr is a bad player he is also on a world on his own (just over excited)
Rafael Alexandre da Conceição Leão
Just noticed that he has the same name with our coach. well I guess he has to take him not only as a coach but also a father 😌
Congratulations to us, i have said it before that we have a good team but a clueless coach, thank God we sacked that mumu Fonseca, today would have been a bad day
Proudly Milan. Happy for the boys and our wonderful coach. Forza Milan!
