Mayor Sala writes to Milan and Inter about San Siro situation amid ‘misalignment’

AC Milan find themselves in a position where they could risk losing the chance to stay at San Siro with Inter if they do not sort themselves out, to put it simply – something which can not happen.

The talk about a stadium has been present largely in the past year, and Milan have gone back and forth on ideas several times. So, the latest news should not come as a shock, even if it is growingly frustrating.

According to reports in recent weeks, it has seemed that the club were ready to work with the Nerazzurri and buy San Siro, but doubts have emerged about the Rossoneri’s intentions with San Donato remaining a viable option.

However, this comes with significant risk, as Mayor Sala has now written to the club asking to sort a ‘misalignment’, and Milan Press have relayed his message.

“Having learned from the media that there would be some points of misalignment between your companies regarding the purchase proposal and that according to the reported statement, the same will arrive ‘very shortly’, I trust and hope that this will happen.

“As I have pointed out on previous occasions, given also the importance of the project and the complexity of the regulatory, procedural and factual context in which it is inserted, this administration must be able to proceed to a timely planning and programming of its evaluations and decisions regarding the future of the current facility.”

Considering the cost of San Donato, if Milan do not want to be forced into an option, they must make their own decisions now, whilst they have that luxury.

  1. Yes Mr. Mayor. You have Real Madrid and Barca lined up and waiting, as if you have any options.

Trump would tell you that you have no cards in your hands. Do the right thing for the city, take what you are offered and let the teams sort out, help them remove the hurdles to build the dream and move into the future

  2. The only thing I want to happen is for Milan to pull out of this dumb deal to buy San Siro together with Inter, and build a new stadium in San Donato. leave inter with the crumbling San Siro. Without us I doubt they will be able to build their own stadium.

  3. If Milan had his heart on owning their own stadium, why would they be involved in this deal. Even Tottenham has more financial muscle than us due to having their own stadium. Can’t this management for once give clarity on what they mean to do?

  4. Sala talking absolute trash again.
There is no “fixed deadline” for this proposal because the San Siro cannot be demolished until after the Olympic ceremony anyway, which is in 2026.

This is just the Mayor trying to lock the clubs in so that they can keep renting the San Siro until 2030 (when the “proposed” stadium is suppose to be completed), and have people praise him for being able to keep the poor Milan clubs spending 8M Euro a season to pay the municipality.

    Kindly F@ck off Sala.
