Mediaset: Boost for Arsenal as Milan’s ‘difficult’ pursuit in Salzburg sensation is downplayed

By Oliver Fisher -

SportMediaset journalist Claudio Raimondi has poured cold water on the idea that AC Milan are seriously interested in Dominik Szoboszlai.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanLive) reported last week that Szoboszlai is almost certain to move on from Salzburg in the January transfer window, and that another attempt to sign him by Milan cannot be excluded after two previous negotiations.

Calciomercato.com then reported that Paolo Maldini still has the desire to bring him to Milan, with contacts ongoing with his agency and with Red Bull Salzburg.

Now, Mediaset’s Raimondi has given his take on things during an interview with MilanNews, and seemed to downplay the suggestion that he is a major target for the club.

He claims that Szoboszlai has become expensive, and that Milan would have had some chance had Ralf Rangnick arrived at the club – the man who launched him – but now the eyes of many top European clubs are on him and it is difficult.

Hungarian source Index meanwhile recently claims that Szoboszlai’s agent Esterházy was at a Forbes event in Hungary this week and discussed interest in his client, confirming Arsenal and Milan are both in the running but ruling out a move to the latter.
