Mediaset: Ibrahimovic will begin on the bench vs. Fiorentina – Castillejo to start

By Isak Möller -

Zlatan Ibrahimovic seemed destined to play tomorrow’s clash against Fiorentina from start, having played around 30 minutes against Man Utd on Thursday. However, this won’t be the case, a report claims.

According to SportMediaset, as cited by MilanLive, the 39-year-old isn’t quite ready to play from start after just making his recovery. Stefano Pioli could give him a maximum of 45 minutes and thus an appearance off the bench is more likely.

Samu Castillejo, who played as a false-nine against Man Utd, is expected to start again and Hakan Calhanoglu will be in the No.10 role. Jens Petter Hauge could also get the chance from start, currently battling it out with Rade Krunic for the spot.

Pioli’s presser will take place in less than 15 minutes and we should know more about the situation then. Either way, it’s a blow for Milan and we can only hope that Ibrahimovic will be ready to start for the next game.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Donnarumma; Dalot, Kjaer, Tomori, Theo; Tonali, Kessie; Saelemaekers, Calhanoglu, Hauge; Castillejo.

  1. Did Pioli learn nothing from the last match? Zlatan has to start when the match starts … He has a big engine so the pace when the match starts suits him perfectly … So he can play as long as he can … He should not get on the field late in the match .. .70 minutes is too late … Better to give his team a good start from the beginning than to try to save the match through a late (too late) inning ….
