AC Milan have ranked very well in a study of which big clubs in Europe have been overpaying the most for their players, a report claims.
As has been reported by Football Italia, the CIES Football Observatory has released a study that has calculated the value of players before they made a move to a club and compared it to the fees that were paid for them.
Top of the list was Premier League side Manchester United who have overpaid for their players by the tune of €238 million. The highest Italian side is Juventus who have overpaid by €233m.
Milan rank much better even when just compared to Italian clubs. The Rossoneri are judged to have overpaid by €2m whilst AS Roma are at €67m, Napol at €62m, Atalanta at €37m, Inter at €34m, Sassuolo at €19m, Torino and Hellas Verona at €3m and then Milan.
It is a testament to the smart transfers that sporting director Frederic Massara and technical director Paolo Maldini have overseen.
