Alexis Saelemaekers was forced to leave Roma’s 1-1 draw against Genoa earlier than planned after picking up an ankle injury in the second half. Now, the Giallorossi are hoping that it isn’t anything serious for the AC Milan loanee.
Saelemaekers joined Roma as part of the Tammy Abraham on deadline day, with the striker going to Milan. So far, it has been a successful trade for the Rossoneri as the English striker was brilliant last night, bagging his first for the club as well.
In any case, Saelemaekers made his second start for Roma earlier today against Genoa, but he was forced to leave early. In the 48th minute, he was fouled by one of the Rossoblu players and seemingly twisted his right ankle upon hitting the ground, screaming in pain as the medical staff entered the pitch.
He was subbed off a few minutes later and reports from VoceGialloRossa suggest that he suffered a sprained ankle. Daniele De Rossi also confirmed after the game that it had to do with the Belgian’s ankle.
It remains to be seen what the recovery time will be it’s worth noting that he missed seven games at the start of last season due to an ankle injury as well. ‘
