CorSera: The chances of Milan signing Sanches ahead of PSG are not gone yet

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan do still have a chance of signing Renato Sanches ahead of Paris Saint Germain this summer, a report claims.

As has been reported by Corriere della Sera today (via Milan News), the Rossoneri have not given up all hope of signing the Portuguese midfielder even though it is very hard to compete when a club like PSG are in the frame.

They will be able to find an economic agreement with Lille much easier than Milan, as well as being able to offer the player the wages and bonuses that he and his agent desire.

Despite this, the player that Milan have been tracking for months could still be a part of Stefano Pioli’s midfield next season.

If Milan end up not signing him it will likely be put down to the delay in negotiations caused by Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara’s contract talks which also saw the Sven Botman deal get away from the club.

  1. Sanches is an excellent player, but what’s the plan here?

Tonali, Bennacer, Sanches, Adli , Pobega is great depth but someone will be unhappy due to lack of playing time. I won’t include Bakayoko as he is probably leaving and Krunic would probably be okay. Is someone else getting sold/loaned?

And with the De Ketelaere rumours, it doesn’t seem like one the above will be used as an AM much. I guess we we will see.

    1. That’s called competition and its a good problem to have. Happens at every big club.
Whoever performs the best starts, whoever isn’t satisfied can leave or loaned out .
Outside of Tonali none of the other players have guaranteed or earned starting spots.
Bring Renato Sanches in and hopefully he stays mostly healthy

  2. Sanches would be important beside Pobega and Krunic. Adli maybe would play as backup playmaker, while Bakayoko will do to Valencia.

  3. I’m more worried on benacher’s not renewing because limited playing time due to tonali’s excellent pergormance and emergence of pobega

  4. forget a battle with PSG in terms of salary, afterwards the complete Milan team wants to have more money. A renato deal would destroy a lot…. we need a youth hero like nicolas seiwald or enzo fernandes (already at benfica) might be we aks for Enzo next year when we must pay 40mio..just scaredy-cats at Milanelo and still same behavior (Mandzukic, Giroud, Bakayoko, Ziyech, Acerbi, Assensio)

  5. I would prefer Douglas Luiz or Fofana over Renato, but Renato would be a good Kessie replacement nevertheless, problem is he’s very injury prone, and looking at his career so far it seems like depending on which league he plays in, his performance can vary a lot. He looked pretty good in Portugal and France, but pretty bad in Germany and England, so there’s somewhat of an uncertainty on how he’s going to do in Italy. He would be a very good signing if he’s physically well and adapts to the league, though. I don’t know if Jorge Mendes is only using Milan’s interest to get more money from PSG but I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case.
