Mirabelli: “I tried to bring Ancelotti back to Milan; A Suso-Callejon swap deal?…”

By Oliver Fisher -

Former AC Milan chief Massimiliano Mirabelli has claimed that discussions were made about bring Carlo Ancelotti back as manager while he was at the club.

Mirabelli was appointed as Chief Executive Officer in 2017 under Yonghong Li’s ownership, but was removed when Elliott Management seized control the following summer.

He has previously made some very bold claims about his time with the Rossoneri, such as that he almost signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and that he convinced Cristiano Ronaldo to join Milan.

Now the 50-year-old – who is without a job since his dismissal over a year ago – has shed more light on his encounters in an interview with Naples-based station Radio Kiss Kiss (via MilanNews).

“Did I try to bring Ancelotti back to Milan? A thought and some conversations had been made, yes,” Mirabelli said.

“A Suso-Callejon swap? We also wanted Callejon at the time, but it was not our intention to sell Suso, also because we had renewed his contract. Suso always had admirers.”
