ML: Kessie just misses out on podium for best penalty takers in Serie A – Inter star ahead

By Isak Möller -

After Zlatan Ibrahimovic missed a few penalties at the start of the season, Franck Kessie has been entrusted the penalty duties once again. The Ivorian, as we know, has always been very secure from the spot.

Since he joined Milan back in 2017, as pointed out by MilanLive, Kessie has missed just two penalties out of 16 penalties for the club. One of the misses came this season, vs. Fiorentina, but he had already scored one penalty in that game.

Considering how many penalties he has taken in Serie A, two for Atalanta as well, it’s very impressive that he has missed just two out of the 18. However, despite this, he’s not in the top three for his conversion rate in the last five years.

10th: Andrea Petagna – 84.62% (11/13)
9th: Erick Pulgar – 85.71% (12/14)
8th: Cristiano Ronaldo – 88% (22/25)
7th: Diego Perotti – 88.89% (16/18)
6th: Jordan Veretout – 89.47% (17/19)
5th: Ciro Immobile – 89.47% (34/38)
4th: Franck Kessie – 90% (18/20)
3rd: Luis Muriel – 91.67% (11/12)
2nd: Lorenzo Insigne – 93.33% (14/15)
1st: Romelu Lukaku – 100% (11/11)

Inter star Romelu Lukaku comes out on two, in other words, but hasn’t taken as many penalties as Kessie in the league. Either way, it has been very good for Milan to the Ivorian for the penalties.
