AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli will not have much choice in the centre-forward role for tonight’s trip to Sassuolo after a double injury blow.
According to MilanNews, Ante Rebic and Divock Origi because were candidates for a starting shirt in Reggio Emilia this evening, but both of them will miss the game scheduled for 18:30 CEST at the Mapei Stadium.
The Croatian had a back problem after the last training session while Origi is suffering from inflammation, but the good news is that they hope to recover for the derby against Inter on Saturday.
That means Oliver Giroud will start again against Sassuolo, but he was used 90 minutes against Bologna and ideally would have got some rest in view of the match against Inter.
Milan were plagued by unfortunate and untimely injury problems last season so Pioli knows how to deal with not having the usual depth, but it would have been nice to have more luck in the new campaign.
