Olivier Giroud or Ante Rebic? This is a question that has been discussed among Milan fans in the last few days. The Rossoneri will face Sassuolo tomorrow and Stefano Pioli is faced with a decision to make.
Giroud has scored some important goals for Milan this season but his contribution lately has been minimal. Rebic, on the other hand, has impressed when coming off the bench and even in the centre-forward role.
Of course, as MilanNews highlights, they both have very different characteristics and it thus depends on what Stefano Pioli wants. Giroud often has his back towards the goal in the build-up and isn’t that fast, but he thrives inside the penalty box and wins a lot of tough challenges.
Rebic, on the other hand, likes to have possession and is able to use his technique as well as speed to trouble the opponents. Furthermore, he’s more of a threat when it comes to runs behind the defence, whereas Giroud is more of a static reference point. Finally, Rebic offers more in terms of pressing.
Giroud is still the favourite to start, as the report states, but Rebic is almost certain to come on during the game. He could be a weapon if Milan take the lead, as he can lead the counter-attacks along with Rafael Leao.
Play Rebic at CAM or RW and Giroud up front. If Ibra is able to play, play him behind Giroud. Our weakest links are CAM and RW. We should try to cover those.
Don’t you see our last 2 or 3 games? We use 433
With kessie as cdm and 2 box to box midfielder, we don’t use cam anymore,,
Our weakest link now is the whole right side
