MN: Milan identify five areas to fix ASAP – Spurs, Chelsea duo among five targets in mind

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan risk reporting for preseason preparations on Monday with a squad that doesn’t closely resemble what Stefano Pioli wants to work with.

As MilanNews notes, due to a combination of expired loans, expiring contracts and official departures, the Milan squad currently has 23 players.

Soon it could be even fewer, as the likes of Reina, Calabria, Krunic and Paquetà are all surplus to requirements, which above all proves the need to get in some depth.

In defence, the focus remains a centre-back and a right-back. The names on the Rossoneri’s wish list for now are Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic and Tottenham’s Serge Aurier, for whom the negotiations are not easy.

In midfield three new additions are needed. The most popular name is that of Tiemoue Bakayoko, but the Atalanta-owned Matteo Pessina could be an option as could Tommaso Pobega, who has just returned from his loan spell at Pordenone.

The report concludes by adding that is important that the reinforcements are targeted and prudent in order to strengthen the squad and compliment what is a united group that showed their strength in the face of adversity in the post-lockdown period.
