MN: No.10 hunt, triple deal with Chelsea and opportunities – Milan working on a silent mercato

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have a clear plan outlined for their summer transfer market, and it will be one of patience and opportunities.

According to MilanNews, it will be a mercato made up of effective choices in compliance with two elements: the club’s ambitions and the health of the balance sheet. There is plenty of work already done though, such as the permanent signing of Sandro Tonali, replacing Gigio Donnarumma with Mike Maignan, and keeping Fikayo Tomori.

Now, Milan must plug another crucial gap after the farewell of Calhanoglu, with many names being examined such as James Rodriguez, Coutinho, Isco and more. All these are names that entice supporters but are complicated for obvious reasons due to salary.

Then, Milan are also working on a potential triple raid on Chelsea in addition to Tomori. Olivier Giroud has been one step away from wearing the Rossoneri shirt for weeks, and the feeling is that he is trying in every way to free himself from his deal at Chelsea.

Tiemoue Bakayoko is doing absolutely nothing to hide his strong interest in returning to Milan, and he would complete the midfield department now Meitè’s loan is over. Finally, Ziyech seems to be the right player to replace Calhanoglu in the role of attacking midfielder too, but costs are a concern.

Overall, it will be a careful transfer campaign, studied in detail, to reinforce a team that does not have many weaknesses but that can certainly do something to take the next step. Maldini and Massara are working with trust, and the signings will come.
