MN: Rebic passes important test against Lecce – fuels straight swap with Andre Silva

At Via del Mare, Ante Rebic passed another important test. We are not only talking about the goal scored, but also how he reacted in an exemplary manner after the red card against Juventus.

As highlighted by MilanNews.it’s Matteo Calcagni, Stefano Pioli had no doubt about deploying Rebic as the centre-forward once again. The former Eintracht Frankfurt man responded well, putting a good performance on display.

He was always active between the lines and tried to combine with his teammates, not forgetting his defensive duties by recovering the ball and pressuring the opponents. In other words, the outing against Juve is certainly in the past.

Sunday’s match against Roma will be tougher, of course, but it will be a chance for Rebic to provide further answers in his ‘new’ position. Should he manage to perform well as a false nine against the big clubs, then the future will be interesting.

The exchange of loans involving André Silva and Rebic, a move that initially seemed desperate to try to get the Portuguese going, has turned into a sensational market operation with both players performing really well.

The hypothesis of a straight swap is now more and more likely, with AC Milan killing two birds with one stone: signing Rebic without handing over any cash and avoiding any losses on Andre Silva, whose value on the balance sheet amounts to €15m.
