Montella: “The attitude pleased me, it’s normal to have three strikers”

By Fred Ilondo -

After a comfortable win against Crotone away from home, Coach Vincenzo Montella was very pleased with the overall performance of his team.

“The attitude of my players really pleased me. They played with attention and intensity.”

When talking about the VAR system, Montella noted that it helps maintain calm even though the concept is still new.

“We definitely need time to get used to it, but everyone was calmer with the VAR in place.”

Despite a good game and a deserved victory, the Rossoneri coach admitted, however, that the team still has a long way to go.

“We need to improve our game management in order to become a winning team. The sending off made everything easier, but there are things to work on.

“All of the boys were strong. Kessie comes to mind because he is very intelligent. I expected him to be strong, but not that much, We have to avoid getting booked so much.”

While growing strong, the Italian giant now also has a dilemma, with the signing of Fiorentina striker Nicola Kalinic the team will now have three strikers and all of them could be seen as potential starters with only one spot available.

“In big teams, it’s normal to have three strikers. One of them is Cutrone, who is growing a lot, Andre Silva is becoming more mature and Kalinic will be the more experienced striker.”
