Few AC Milan players impressed in the defeat against Torino last night, as highlighted by the newspapers this morning. It’s often the case after a defeat, of course, but it was especially evident this time out.
Tijjani Reijnders scored the only goal for Milan, while Mike Maignan was responsible for yet another howler. As a result, the Dutchman got good ratings overall while the goalkeeper was criticised, even if he made a big save later on in the game.
Gazzetta dello Sport named Riccardo Sottil as the best at 6.5/10 – same as in our ratings – since he entered with energy and sent in the cross that led to Reijnders’ goal. Corriere dello Sport, meanwhile, gave him a 6/10 and named Reijnders as the best Milan player at 7/10.
As for the worst player, the pink newspaper went for Rafael Leao who was subbed off at half-time, giving him a 4.5/10. Corriere dello Sport opted for Mike Maignan instead at the same rating, given the big mistake he made at the start.
Gazzetta dello Sport’s ratings
6.5: Riccardo Sottil, Tijjani Reijnders.
6: Alex Jimenez, Strahinja Pvalovic, Youssouf Fofana.
5.5: Theo Hernandez, Yunus Musah, Joao Felix.
5: Mike Maignan, Malick Thiaw, Christian Pulisic, Santiago Gimenez, Tammy Abraham.
4.5: Rafael Leao.
Corriere dello Sport’s ratings

442 ,with Sottil LM ,Pulisic RM , leao or felix can play upfront with gimenez, they can’t play both on the field ,if you had 2 ngolo kantes in team maybe they could cover this 4231 joke of tactic with 4 attackers
Yes, Maignan higher rating than Leao. Ruined the game for Milan. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂
Leao deserves lowest rating by default.
He won the MVP half a decade ago. That gives him extra 1-2 points to start with. 🙂
… according to some.
I’ll have to rewatch the match but these ratings feel too harsh. If it weren’t for those two comical, amateur errors, Milan controlled the game. Even with Milinkovic-Savic playing like prime Buffon.
The final xG was Milan 2.45 Torino 0.36.
I think Milan needs to offload Rafa Leao.
I don’t see him being interested in playing football anymore, or he just doesn’t want to play for Milan anymore.
Theo needs to know that he’s playing in Serie A,and not in English Premier league where players can decide to dive or fall on the ground and get free kicks.
And the coach, I don’t see what is special about Fonseca or Sergio Conceicao. I was trying to understand why they were brought in as Milan head coaches in the first place. When their are coaches like Conte, Zidane, Tuchel, and the former Liverpool coach. Their are coaches with winning mentality and not a coach to sympathise with someone.
To be sincere, this season Milan has been a big joke.
