Nocerino believes the Milan derby will be ‘an open affair’ with no favourite

In less than six hours, the Derby Della Madonnina between AC Milan and Inter will kick-off. It’s a game that will decide a lot in the Scudetto race and although the Nerrazzuri are currently ahead, there aren’t the favourites.

The derby, in fact, almost never has a favourite in the usual sense as form goes out the window for this clash. It should be a very interesting game, therefore, with a lot on the line for both teams but a little more for Milan.

Speaking to Calciomercato.com, the former Rossoneri midfielder Antonio Nocerino was asked about the game and who he believes the favourite is. He made it clear, as was explained above, that the derby is not like any other game.

“An open affair between two solid and well-structured teams, with the two coaches that are very good. In the derby, there are no favourites. There is no weaker team between Milan and Inter, I have played a few derbies. Only with the Torino shirt did I really start as an underdog [against Juve],” he stated.

With a win, Milan would reduce the gap to their city rivals to one point, although Inzaghi’s side have one game in hand as well. A loss, therefore, would be devastating as it would increase the gap to seven points.
