Official: Investigation opened into racist chants against Bakayoko during Milan-Lazio

By Isak Möller -

For many years now, Serie A has been working hard to fight the racism that, unfortunately, still exists in the world of football. During Milan’s clash with Lazio, there was yet another incident of this.

When Tiemoue Bakayoko came on in the second half, starting his second adventure at Milan, the Lazio fans decided to sing a chant that doesn’t have any place in football, nor in society. Fortunately, measures are now on the way, it seems.

As confirmed by the FIGC, the Italian football federation, the prosecutor has ordered the TV images from the game to determine the matter. They also have documents from the Police HQ in Milan, which should be enough to find Lazio guilty.

Hopefully, the Biancocelesti will be fined heavily and best case, have to play a game without their fans. Sadly, this isn’t the first time that the Lazio fans are responsible for something like this and they never seem to learn.

  1. Repeat offenders Lazio will get at most a fine of a couple of thousand euros and MAYBE one game without fans. This is a club that should be fined hundreds of thousands of euros and have their stadium shut for at least a month. Then the next time 1m euros and shut stadium for 3 months. If it happens again after that ban their fans for a season.
