Opta: The incredible numbers of Milan’s season so far – only better on two occasions

Milan have done tremendously well this season and currently sit in second place, though just one point behind Inter and with a game in hand. Not many expected this at the start of the season, that’s for sure.

After what was a very positive ending to the 2019/20 season, there was optimism regarding getting a top-four finish this season. But after 20 rounds, the Rossoneri are in first place and have no intention of stopping now.

As highlighted by Opta ahead of tomorrow’s game against Crotone, Milan have registered an average of 2.3 points per game, which is indeed impressive. Only on two occasions, 2003/04 and 2005/06, have they done better (2.21 and 2.31).

That is, of course, for those seasons in total and it remains to be seen if the Rossoneri can keep up the average points as the season goes on. Either way, it shows just how impressive their campaign has been up until this point.
