Pellegatti highlights why Giroud is the ‘ideal player’ for Milan and Pioli

Milan are seemingly closing in on the signing of Olivier Giroud, who despite a recent contract renewal is ready to leave Chelsea. With the Rossoneri, he will act as the deputy for Zlatan Ibrahimovic next season.

Giroud seemed to be just one step away from Milan and then Chelsea announced the one-year renewal. However, negotiations have proceeded anyway and recent reports suggest that the English side will let him go for free to a team abroad.

Interviewed by TuttoMercatoWeb, journalist and Milan expert Carlo Pellegatti was asked to highlight why Giroud will be a good signing for the Rossoneri. He made it clear that there are many reasons to be happy about this deal.

“There are many reasons why it should be considered an important signing. On a technical level, he’s a player with a nose for goal, good in the penalty area, he scores many goals. He’s the ideal player for Pioli’s system.

“In terms of personality, he’s charismatic. He knows how to win, he won the World Cup and the Champions League. And then on an economic level, Milan will pay nothing in terms of transfer fee. They need a deputy and Giroud seems to be the ideal player,” he stated.

Then again, it hasn’t been officially announced yet and a lot can still change, although Milan seem to be in pole position for Giroud. The latter is currently focused on the Euros with France, leaving his agents in charge.
