Pioli heaps praise on Man Utd loanee Dalot: “He trained at 105% instead of whining”

Diogo Dalot was benched in Milan’s game against Sampdoria last weekend and he didn’t get the nod last night either, with Pierre Kalulu starting on the right. However, he got his chance off the bench and made the most of it.

The Man Utd loanee, who arrived ahead of the season, didn’t put a foot wrong after he came on in the 72nd minute. In addition to winning several duels at the back, he also set up the third goal on his own after winning the ball in his own half.

In our player ratings, the right-back was handed a rating of 7/10 and was thus deemed as one of the best on the pitch. Speaking to MilanTV after the game, as cited by MilanNews, Stefano Pioli heaped praise on Dalot.

“I’m very happy with Dalot because he knew for two days that I was going to choose Kalulu, but he’s a winner because he trained at 105% instead of whining. It’s beautiful behaviour and a beautiful example for everyone, I had no doubt that he would do well given the way he prepared,” he stated.

Despite the performance last night, Dalot will most likely return to Man Utd at the end of the season as Milan just haven’t seen enough from him. Furthermore, the English side are asking for around €20m to part ways with the Portuguese international.
