Pioli hints at change of formation following derby defeat: “Everything is possible”

By Isak Möller -

Following the tough defeat to Inter earlier this afternoon, Stefano Pioli was put to the spot during the post-match press conference. Perhaps justified, as Milan have really struggled in the last month or so.

Goals from Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku secured a crucial 3-0 win for the Nerazzurri, putting them safely in first place. Milan, on the other hand, are now at risk of losing their spot in the top four, given how tight the race is.

During the press conference, as cited by MilanLive, Pioli was asked about Milan’s options with regards to the formation. The 4-2-3-1, which has been standard for all season, hasn’t given the Rossoneri the results they have needed as of late.

“We’ll see, everything is possible. From tomorrow we will make our assessments thinking about the best for the team,” the manager stated.

Milan’s next game is against third-place Roma on Sunday next week, and it will certainly be a tough clash for them. Hopefully, they will recover some strength and bring the three points with them from the Rome trip.

  1. AC Milan may evaluate to use 4-5-1 formation beside the 4-2-3-1. But the important thing is how to win in one-on-one situation, backed up with a teamwork organization.
