GdS: Pioli hoping to rotate two forwards soon but condition of Rebic is key

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli is hoping to be able to give some rest to one of his two key forwards on Saturday against Sampdoria, a report claims.

According to what La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) are reporting, in the aftermath of the Champions League match against Red Bull Salzburg last night and in view of the league match against Sampdoria on Saturday evening, one of either Olivier Giroud or Rafael Leao could have a rest.

The French striker and the Portuguese winger have each started in the last few games due to the injury sustained by Ante Rebic and the fact Divock Origi is not yet back at 100% fitness.

However, Pioli’s ability to rotate in the attacking department will mainly depend on the condition of Rebic, who is currently still on the sidelines with a back problem that he sustained before the away match against Sassuolo.

  1. Really going to have to find ways to win games with one of these two out, they’re already managing a huge workload. Rebic being out is a big loss and the sooner he’s available the better. That said, does Origi work better as a winger or forward under Pioli’s system?

  2. Rafa rests for 75 mins each game, only runs for 15 + add ons…getting used to him doing something in those 15 so I guess it’s cool.
