On the eve of the clash between AC Milan and Napoli at the San Siro, Stefano Pioli spoke to the media at Milanello (via MilanNews.it). Among other things, he discussed the potential return of Zlatan Ibrahimovic in January.
The Rossoneri have made great progress in the negotiations for the Swedish striker, as Gianluca Di Mario explained yesterday (via MilanNews.it). There seems to be a willingness from both parties to reach an agreement, with Milan ready to offer an 18-month contract.
So, of course, Pioli was asked about the matter during today’s press conference. However, he didn’t exactly get into the details, making it clear that he’s focused on what happens on the pitch and not on the transfer market.
“I have already explained that I think he’s a great champion, both for his technical importance and his professionalism. Now the present is important for us.
“With the club, there is a continuous confrontation, but I have to focus on the pitch. It’s only November,” he stated.
Considering their start to the season, Milan could certainly use a player like Ibrahimovic, who would add some much-needed experience and leadership to the team. Hopefully, they can reach an agreement for him soon.
