Pioli believes ‘the time has come’ for Origi as start vs. Sampdoria beckons

Divock Origi is expected to make his first start for AC Milan tomorrow evening as they will face Sampdoria away from home. The Belgian has a point to prove and Stefano Pioli believes his time has come.

The former Liverpool man struggled with an injury throughout the summer and the start of the season, resulting in a lack of playing time initially. His condition has now improved and the fans expect a lot from him.

Speaking at the usual press conference, which you can read in full here, Pioli was asked about Origi as the striker is expected to play from the first minute tomorrow. The manager stated that ‘his time has come’.

“His time has come. He’s better, he has had continuity and his condition has improved. He’s an excellent player and needs to play,” he stated.

It remains to be seen if Origi can find the back of the net this time out. He didn’t lack chances against Salzburg but just couldn’t provide the final touch, resulting in some criticism from the Milan fans.

  1. He should just play with a clear mind and not be in a hurry or push to impress…that has killed his game, if he plays freely and links up with his team mates, the goal will come naturally and he will inform his arrival

  2. The criticism are because of his playing-style. Origi has more Striker-Ego than our others strikers. He thirst for goal and make him can’t link the passes. I think Origi might need longer time to show his all, like Leao.
