Player Ratings: AC Milan 3-0 Cagliari – Paqueta and Piatek the difference once again

By Nikita Fesyukov -

AC Milan prevailed over Cagliari 3-0 at the San Siro and are once again in 4th place in Serie A, despite all contenders also winning during the match day. Lucas Paqueta and Krzsystof Piatek were once again the difference for Gennaro Gattuso’s team tonight.

STARTING XI

Donnarumma (7.5): Didn’t have much work but every time there was work, he was on his place and ready to save his team, as always during the past couple of months. Another great performance from the youngster.

Calabria (7): Great performance from the right back. Solid at the back, great contribution up front, especially with a fantastic cross that created the second goal.

Romagnoli (7): Another consistent and quality performance from the captain. The centre-back is slowly becoming the defender we want him to become for the Rossoneri as well as the Italian national team and a real leader of the squad.

Musacchio (7): His colleague did similarly well today, compared to the match at the Stadio Olimpico against Roma. Nice performance and the clean sheet demonstrates it.

Rodriguez (7): To complete a very nice defensive performance overall, Ricardo Rodriguez also did very well. An important presence in the backline and a player that can be relied on, especially in the defensive phase.

Kessie (6.5): After playing well against Roma, Kessie once again had a solid performance. His physicality, runs and tackling were immensely important today, although on some occasions he could have made better decisions, for example during the counter-attack in the first half, when he chose to shoot the ball instead of passing.

Bakayoko (7.5): Another immense performance from the Chelsea loanee. Unpassable in the midfield, not afraid to show off on the oppositions half. A complete performance, as we have become used to in the past months.

Paqueta (7): Scored his first goal for the club today. Made some nice flicks, dribbles and runs throughout the match but also managed other situations somewhat poorly and carelessly. However, it is clear that he is growing more and more into the Italian game and will likely soon show even bigger things on the pitch.

Suso (6.5): Created Milan’s first goal with a dangerous shot on goal and was a constant threat on the flank. However, what he lacked today was the final moment of brilliance. Had a clear chance in the second half to make it 4-0 but somehow managed to miss it. But definitely better than in Rome.

Piatek (7.5): Seemed very isolated in the first half but played fantastically in the build-up play. Was dominant in the air and helped his teammates a lot and pressed hard, which created the final goal that he scored himself with ice-cold calmness. Fourth goal in four matches for the Polish attacker.

Calhanoglu (5.5): The only real disappointment of the match. Looked lively at the beginning and had the first big opportunity of the match but as the game passed, his performance level decreased. Could have easily scored a brace but his finishing was woeful, while his technique also let him down today.

SUBSTITUTIONS

Cutrone (6.5): Lively as always, willing to give his all on the pitch after coming on for the last half an hour. Created Suso’s chance to make it 4-0 with his pressing and overall held the ball well up front but was penalized by the fact that the team played very calmly in the last part of the match and had the match secured.

Conti (6): Did not show much during his time on the pitch, nothing big in the attack, calm and solid at the back. Again, it was very much influenced by the calmness with witch Milan finished off the match.
