Tijjani Reijnders picked up where he left off in the game against Club Brugge by scoring an important goal that proved to be match-winning.
As La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) write this morning, Reijnders scored a brace in his last game against Club Brugge and then served a suspension on Tuesday night against Napoli, also due to the postponement of the match against Bologna.
Yesterday’s performance fuelled further regrets about not having him for that defeat, because some are certain that with him on the pitch the game could have gone differently against the league leaders.
Reijnders is showing himself to be a playmaker, attacking midfielder and now also a goalscorer, given that the last three goals scored by Milan this season have come from the Dutchman. He is a ‘jack of all trades’ and perhaps the only player who we could say is seriously benefiting from Paulo Fonseca’s coaching.
The numbers speak for themselves: with last night’s goal, the former AZ Alkmaar man has scored three goals this season so far, one less than in the entirety of last season. In short, Reijnders is raising the pace and keeps proving himself to be a player that cannot be done without.
The day after the defeat against Napoli, Frank Rijkaard returned to visit Milanello and was photographed speaking to his compatriot Reijnders. His goal last night was very reminiscent of Rijkaard’s in the Intercontinental Final against Olimpia Asuncion in 1990.
The club are evaluating the possibility of extending his contract until 2030 with a salary doubled compared to the €1.6m he currently receives, amid the rumours of interest from abroad.
It’s wild that’s he only on €1.6m now
He was playing for 300k in AZ season 22-23. 21-22 he was playing for 60k a season.
That’s the reality of football outside the big leagues
Where I’m from they don’t even get 10k a season imao
If that is the net amount it isn’t that low really. If Maginan doesn’t even have double wages they are ok. Maignan should have 3-4 times more than Reijnders.
“Yesterday’s performance fuelled further regrets about not having him for that defeat, because some are certain that with him on the pitch the game could have gone differently against the league leaders.”
What? They barely beat Monza, and with a disallowed goal for a joke of a foul. How would it change the Napoli game when Monza is an uphill struggle for Milan with full 1st team?
“They barely beat Monza, and with a disallowed goal for a joke of a foul. ”
And let’s not forget Monza could have been 4-0 up by half-time if Maldini had scored a sitter and MM16 hadn’t made THAT save etc.
Reijnders is everything they had scouted him to be, even when many didn’t see it in him. Our scouting usually leaves more questions than answers, but with Puli and Reijnders it has been dead on.
“But what does he actually do?”
What playmaker, this Reijnders praise is something else.
AND YES WHAT DOES HE ACTUALLY DO.
As usual after the little performance after each one oiut of every third match, there is this opening of the heavens like Reijnders is a consistent performer.
The Reijnders hype is not stopping anytime soon. The game has really lost what is the definition of creative minds that a playmaker/goalscorer should be.
That Reijnders that is now beginning to pick up his form is always heaped with so much praise like he is a consistent performer, and has been vital to Milan’s “unstoppable force”.
🤣😂. I just even can’t… When he does not turn up there is always selective sight to his shortcomings, or excuses by fans and articles. But when he does the bare minimum the praise explodes like he is the one to return Milan to the midfield equivalent of Gullit, Mathaus, Rivera, Rivelino, cubilas.
This must be the definition of can do no wrong means on the human level.
